JANUARY UPDATE
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jan 29, 2021 at 05:16:51 PM

Hey everyone! As of last week, all of the orders have now (finally!) been shipped out. A couple more notes as you continue to receive and unpack your orders...

First: If you still haven’t received a shipping notice, check your spam folder, and if still nothing email us at [email protected] and we’ll get to the bottom of it!

Instruction Sheet: Read through the included instruction sheet before you start assembling everything. A digital copy of the instructions can be found here if you need it. Remember:

  • The items get steel plugs.
  • The new figures get silver 2.5mm magnets.
  • If your order included any figures from the previous campaign, those get the black 2mm magnets.

Adjustments: There were a few last minute item swaps and adjustments, here’s how the final Series shook out:

Here's the changelog from the original campaign images:

Series 1:

  • Added Mancatcher (a bonus item we decided to give to everyone)
  • Updated Moonshard Dao

Series 2:

  • Onyx Reaver was replaced with a duplicate Eviscerator from Series 3 (a mistake by our caster that slipped by us. Both SKUs were the same model).

Series 3:

  • Added Phoenix Familiar (a bonus item we decided to give to everyone)
  • Updated all chain items to use a universal chain hand
  • Removed Faction Polearm and Faction Dagger (casting quality issues)

Series 4:

  • Updated all chain items to use a universal chain hand

There may be a few other modeling adjustments we made along the way, but these are the main changes.

Chain Tips:

  • The silver chains have open links, but the black chains will need to be cut.
  • It’s easiest to first hook the length of black chain into the silver chain, make sure it works for you, and then cut.
  • For things that hang, use 1 to 4 black chain links.
  • Use about 35 - 40mm of black chain when connecting hands together, and about the same for leashes.
  • The Hanging Lantern and familiars are a bit of a tight fit, but a silver chain link should make it through.
  • The chain is super tiny, use pliers, and work over a surface.

Painting Tips: We are definitely not professional mini painters, but these are some things we recommend. Feel free to comment with any painting resource recommendations!

  • We recommend priming the pieces before you paint them!
  • Install the steel plugs into the items before painting, then you can use the allen key (and a magnet) to hold the item while you paint.
  • If paint gets on the the steel plugs or magnets, wipe it or gently sand it off.
  • If you're new to mini painting, it's helpful to start with the items to help get acclimated to the process.
  • The hands are meant to be gloved, so paint them a neutral color like black or brown so they can be swapped around.
  • We find this video is a helpful beginners guide.

Bent Items: They are annoying, this happens when they are pulled from the molds or transported to us, but everything should bend back without much issue. It’s normal to feel and hear a “crackling” as you do it. Don’t forget you can twist items if you prefer them to face a different direction. Just be gentle.

Missing/Mis-cast Items or figures: If you think you’re missing anything, or any items or figures have issues, email us at [email protected], we’ll help sort it out!

THANKS!

DECEMBER UPDATE
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Dec 27, 2020 at 04:49:04 PM

GOOD NEWS!

The caster (finally!) now has everything completed and we are awaiting 2 shipments to arrive from him. They are of course taking their time to arrive because of the recent delays with USPS, but we are expecting them this week.

We can soon start the process of placing the remaining items into boxes, folding mailers, printing postage, etc. We’ll then ship out all the remaining orders, and we’ll do so over the coming weeks until everything is shipped.

Since it’s been so long since we locked addresses, please reach out if you need us to update your shipping information. The best way to reach us is by email at [email protected]

TIPS

As more backers receive their orders and start to build and paint the sets, here are a few helpful tips:

  •  Some pieces may be bent when they arrive! This happens when they are pulled from the molds. Luckily pewter is very durable. Be gentle, but you should be able to bend everything back no problem.  If a piece has an issue though just let us know.
  •  Some pieces may have flashing! Any excess pewter on a piece or figure can be pulled off with pliers or carefully cut off with a pair of snips (or a hobby knife). We have this cutter / pliers set which work great.
  •  Twist the blades! Some pieces, especially swords and axes, need to be twisted slightly so that the hole casts correctly. If you prefer them straighter than they are, simple twist them to your liking.
  •  Use the box lids as trays! The parts are tiny, so we recommend working over a tray, and we found the box lids work great.
  •  Use the allen key! If a hole isn't quite round, or has some debris in it, try using the included allen keys to ream out the hole. The smaller allen key is 2mm and is for all the items and Collection 1 figures, and the larger allen key is 2.5mm and is for the Collection 2 figures. You can also try using an appropriate sized drill bit to repair a bad hole. Or, email us about mis-cast pieces.
  •  Use superglue gel! We find using gel gives a little more control and more time to make sure everything is lined up to achieve maximum magnetism.

Feel free to share any other tips or suggestions that you think might be helpful for other backers!

Happy New Year!

We’ll post a wrap-up update once everything has shipped. Until then thanks for bearing with us in this very strange year. We hope wherever you are that you’re surviving and that our minis can bring some joy. Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, and happy days ahead!

NOVEMBER UPDATE
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Dec 01, 2020 at 06:41:40 AM

SHIPPING CONTINUES!

Hey Everyone! Not a ton to update but while we are still awaiting more items to arrive from the caster, we are slowly shipping orders, and we’re currently at about 15 - 20% shipped. Casting has been slower than we had hoped because of some covid related staffing issues at the caster, but we did just receive a big batch of items, so a bunch more stuff should go out in the coming weeks!

There was also another minor issue, the caster misplaced a few of the 3D prints that we sent him and can't find them :( So when we went to double check his work we noticed the missing items. It’s frustrating, but the pieces are already being reprinted, so it will be a quick fix.

We were aiming to be a bit further at this point, but we are still full steam ahead. We’re getting so close to having 100% of everything we need, so if your order hasn’t shipped yet, thanks for your patience and we’ll get it out to you ASAP!

USPS

We're huge fans of USPS and honestly couldn't do what we do without them, but we are unfortunately going to be shipping the bulk of the orders during a particularly crazy Holiday season and a crazy year for USPS in general. Slower delivery times and incorrect tracking information will be common, and international orders may be slower to clear customs.

If you do suspect that your package is having an issue, first contact your local post office with your tracking information to see if they have any more info. If that doesn't help, email us at [email protected] and we'll help sort it out!

THANKS!

Super sorry for these delays for those of you who haven't gotten your rewards yet, thanks a ton for your continued patience and know that we haven't forgotten you and we'll ship your order asap!

Stay safe, stay healthy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

OCTOBER UPDATE
about 4 years ago – Thu, Oct 29, 2020 at 08:59:50 AM

CASTING UPDATE

Good news! The remaining 3D prints have arrived and have been sent on to the caster!

The caster will now make the remaining preliminary molds, and then cast and send a small run of a few dozen of each item to us. Jason will QA and clean those items, and return them to the caster so that the primary molds for each item can be made. So, a little bit of back and forth and lots of mold making left to do, but we are now full steam ahead for casting.

SHIPPING UPDATE

More good news! We’ve officially started shipping, starting with a small handful of Basic pledges! As more and more items will arrive soon, here is our latest estimated shipping schedule:

  •  Basic Pledges - October & November
  •  Advanced Pledges - November
  •  Heroic / Legendary / Ultimate Pledges - November & December

BACKERKIT PAYMENTS

We’re aware some of you may be having issues with payments not processing through Backerkit. If your card still won’t process, let us know and we can send a payment request through PayPal no problem. Sorry for any frustration this has caused!

THANKS!

As always, we’ll do our best to pack and ship everything as fast as we can! Please let us know if you have any questions at all. The best way to reach us is email - [email protected]

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
